How to make the call on WhatsApp Web

Since July 28, 2026 WhatsApp Web makes voice and video calls with no app installed. Open the chat and click the call button at the top, next to the contact name — then choose voice or video. It works in one-to-one chats and in groups; in a group you pick who gets rung. The first time, the browser asks for microphone permission.

Calls are logged in the "Calls" tab on the left side of the screen, with history and favorites. The same release brought screen sharing, reactions, a waiting room for group calls, noise suppression, high-definition video from the first seconds, and transferring a call between devices. End-to-end encryption is the same as on mobile.

Hasn't shown up for you? The rollout is gradual

If you opened WhatsApp Web and found no button, it isn't on your end. The press that covered the launch notes the rollout arrives in stages — two machines open the same screen on the same day and see different things. Before concluding it hasn't landed: update Chrome, log out of the session and reconnect via QR, and check that WhatsApp on your phone is updated too.

How to call someone who is not in your contacts

Native calling starts from a chat that already exists. If the number never messaged you and is not saved, there is no chat — and with no chat there is no button. The native workaround is to build the official link wa.me/1XXXXXXXXXX (country code + number, digits only), open it in the browser and click "continue to chat". The conversation appears, and then the call button is there.

It works — and it gets tiring at volume. Switch tabs, format the number, paste the link, wait for it to load, repeat. In the extension that is the "Message a non-contact" feature: you paste the number right in the WhatsApp Web screen and the chat opens. It sits in the free layer — you do not pay to remove copy-and-paste.

What native calling cannot do

For personal use, native calling is enough — and it is good. It does voice, video, groups, screen sharing and history, all free with nothing to install. Its limit shows up when calling stops being an event and becomes work routine:

• Calling one by one, live — native does it. That covers most people.
• Voice, video, groups and screen — native does it, with good quality.
• Calling someone who never saved you — no, not without building the link first.
• Calling a whole list — no. One call at a time, by hand.
• Playing a recorded audio when they answer — does not exist natively.
• Calling automatically when a lead goes quiet — no. You have to remember.
• A report of who answered and for how long — only a simple history.

When the lead goes quiet, the call goes out by itself

One call you make with your finger. Sixty a week, at the right time, to the right person, nobody makes with a finger. And the sale rarely dies on the first call — it dies on the second one, the one you promised to make and forgot.

That is where automatic calling with recorded audio comes in: you record once what you repeat every day, pick the list, and whoever answers hears your voice. And there is the version that works on its own — the call as a Kanban follow-up step: the lead did not answer the message, and at the interval you set the system calls and plays the audio. You do not have to remember.

How many calls you can make without losing your number

There is no magic number and no tool grants immunity — anyone promising that is selling what they do not have. What is known is what raises risk: high volume in a short window, always the same interval, and calls to people who never talked to you. What lowers it: start with chats that already exist, vary the interval between calls, and stop at the first sign of rejection — if many do not answer or block you, the problem is the list, not the pace.
